Glass price calculator
Price per piece = chargeable area × your price per m², plus the toughening surcharge, the edges per metre and the holes. A 1000 × 800 mm pane of 8 mm glass at 40 per m², toughened at +20 %, polished all round at 6 per metre with two holes at 3 each: 0.80 m² × 40 = 32.00, + 6.40 toughening, + 3.6 m × 6 = 21.60 of edges, + 6.00 of holes: 66.00 a piece. Type your own prices below, in mm or inches, and send the result to a budget your customer accepts from a link.

How this is calculated
The minimum area is the usual shop rule for small panes: a 200 × 200 mm piece is charged as 0.25 m² if that is your minimum. Toughening is a surcharge on the glass only, not on the edges or the holes. Weight uses 2500 kg/m³, the same as the glass weight calculator; laminated interlayers add a little.
What this page does not do
- No market prices. The prices are yours; nothing here guesses what glass costs in your area.
- No tax. Add VAT or sales tax in the budget, where the rate is set once.
- No offcut waste. To know how many stock sheets an order uses, run the glass cutting optimiser.
- No insulating units. Price a double-glazed unit as its own product in your price list.
Questions people ask
- How do you calculate the price of glass?
- Area of the pane in m² (or ft²) times your price per m², with a minimum area per piece, plus a toughening surcharge in per cent on the glass, the worked edges per metre of perimeter and a price per hole. 1000 × 800 mm at 40 per m², +20 % toughened, polished all round at 6 per metre and two holes at 3: 32.00 + 6.40 + 21.60 + 6.00 = 66.00.
- Why charge a minimum area per piece?
- Because a small pane takes the same handling, cutting and edging set-up as a large one. Most glass shops charge small pieces as if they were 0.25 m² (about 2.7 ft²); set your own minimum, or 0 to charge the real area.
- How do I turn this into a quote for the customer?
- Press «Add to a budget» under the result. The budget page takes the price as a line, adds your tax and terms, and gives you a link the customer opens and accepts from the phone. Several panes go in a list; the free list keeps 5 rows, Pro has no limit and puts your logo on the PDF.
