Measure the window openings on a plan

Open the plan, give it its scale, and draw the openings: a rectangle on an elevation gives width × height; a line on a floor plan gives the width and you type the height. Lengths, areas and counts too, each with how sure it is. The openings go to the survey sheet as nominal sizes, to be checked on site. Your company on the documents

Shown on every document you make here, and on the specification sheet and the schedule report: one set of details for all of them. Saved in this browser.

Giving each page its scale

Every page has its own scale, set one of two ways. With two points: click both ends of a dimension written on the drawing, the longest you can find, and type its real length. Or type the scale written on the drawing, such as 1:50, with the paper it was drawn for; for a PDF that is the page's own size unless you choose another. A typed scale is exact only if the drawing was exported or printed at that size ("fit to page" changes it), so check one dimension written on it.

How sure each measure is

A click can be a couple of screen pixels out; zoomed in, that is less on the drawing. Every measure shows that uncertainty, together with the uncertainty of the scale when it was set with two points. Changing the scale of a page recalculates everything on it and marks it to check again.

Openings for the survey sheet

On an elevation, draw the opening as a rectangle and it gives width × height. On a floor plan draw its width along the wall and type the height, which a plan does not show. Or type both from the dimensions written on the drawing. They are numbered V01, V02… and go to the survey sheet as nominal sizes: what the drawing says, not what was built. Glass is ordered from sizes measured on site.

What is free

One page with up to 20 measurements, the takeoff sheet printed or saved as PDF, the CSV, and sending the openings to the survey sheet. Pro measures on every page of a set and lifts the limit of measurements.
